#CHINATOWN@HOME | Chieh-Ting Chuang | World Design Awards 2022

Chieh-Ting Chuang: Winner of World Design Awards 2022. Chinatown is a recognizable architectural style that has been copied in every major city. Different Chinatowns in different locations represent the local conditions of the city.

This strong adaptive trait of Chinatown can not only be transformed into exterior spaces but also can be carried to interior domesticities. While the creation of the original Chinatowns is all based on the autonomy of the builder and owners of the era, this project explores the autonomy using modern technology and media. With the catalog and the life simulation games, users can develop their layout and composition of the house.

The #Chinatown@Home package required users to 3D scan their dwelling and they will enjoy transforming their home into a self-designed “Chinatown” using the building simulation app. Along with the printed catalog and advertisement everywhere, it will guide the user to transform the dwelling into a different style and bring the Chinatown atmosphere to their own interior space.
