The Standard, Singapore | DP Green | World Design Awards 2025
DP Green: Winner of World Design Awards 2025. Unconventional, Dynamic & Irreverent — these words define The Standard, and in Singapore, they come to life through a design that is anything but ordinary. Here, the rebellious spirit of alternative pop culture meets lush tropical landscapes, shaping a hospitality experience that is bold, playful and sensorial.

Inspired by the vibrant layers of the nearby UNESCO-listed Singapore Botanic Gardens, the design channels 90s Hollywood energy through unexpected colours, rich textures and curated art. Rather than a traditional retreat, The Standard, Singapore[DT1] , invites guests into a living courtyard where nature spills over and every surface becomes a stage for expression.
This is a space where nature, culture and wellness perform. From layered planting to eclectic furnishings and interactive installations, every corner is crafted to surprise, delight and offer an immersive journey of creative exploration.
Small Footprint, Nature Amplified
The Standard, Singapore, masterfully intertwines hospitality, nature and architecture, offering an immersive guest experience unlike any other. Situated on a compact site of just over 3,300sqm, the design makes every square metre count—celebrating a rich landscape that effortlessly merges the built and the natural. With over 40% of the site dedicated to greenery, the project thoughtfully integrates native Southeast Asian plants, supporting biodiversity and improving the microclimate quality. Lush planting softens the transition between architecture and landscape, allowing greenery to gradually envelop the built form. Sustainable features, such as automated irrigation, optimise water use while reducing labour maintenance needs. By embedding ecology into the guest experience, the hotel champions sustainability not as an add-on, but as a fundamental part of its spatial and emotional narrative.
A Tapestry of Vibrant, Layered Landscapes
Anchoring the project is a lush central courtyard, which is a living, breathing core that connects the arrival lobby below with the elevated poolside dining terrace above. This transitional space becomes a multi-sensory journey where tropical planting, staggered levels and shifting moments of light and shadow guide guests through a vibrant tapestry of nature. At its core, a pop-biophilic experience unfolds with a bar check-in that leads to stepped cupcake platforms, carefully designed to cradle you in nature. These sculpted levels unveil a hidden courtyard, a semi-secluded cave and tiered terraces that serve as expressive, living platforms. As guests ascend, the landscape reveals itself in layers, offering pause points, playful discoveries and immersive encounters that blur boundaries between architecture, greenery and experience.
Be Alive in Nature: A Whimsical Wonderland Awakens
In this theatrical garden-scape, art is not an accent – it leads the performance. From bold sculptural moments to playful forms and curated objects, every detail is specially crafted to intrigue and inspire. Guests move through a living gallery where boundaries between fantasy and function dissolve, encouraging joy, curiosity and connection. Here, art drives interaction, wellness and excitement at every turn by creating an environment that pulses with life. Immersive installations, vibrant materials and unexpected encounters keep the space fresh and ever-evolving, redefining the urban retreat as a sensorial stage for creativity and collective delight.

DP Green (DPG) firmly believes that architecture and landscape are inextricably linked, with green spaces vital for urban sustainability and social connection. As an interdisciplinary practice that comprises landscape architects, architects, designers, horticulturists and arborists, DP Green creates landscape designs that respond to a site’s natural genius loci, fostering a strong sense of place. Assimilating the latest arboreal technologies, knowledge and practices developed worldwide with artisanal sensibilities, crafting landscapes through a collaborative, inter-disciplinary design methodology sits at the heart of DPG’s approach.
