Future Park | CSD.DESIGN & Mill Interior Art Design | World Design Awards 2025
CSD.DESIGN & Mill Interior Art Design: Winner of World Design Awards 2025. The Luqiaoqiao district, located in the Jinniu area of Chengdu’s North Third Ring Road, serves as a vital hub linking Tianfu Art Park with the Phoenix Mountain area. Covering approximately 6,831 mu, it has been designated as one of Chengdu’s key renewal units and part of its “One Hundred Future Park Communities.” The project is driven by the principle of “organic urban renewal,” leveraging the cultural and tourism resources of Phoenix Mountain to address the development lag in northern Chengdu. It aspires to become a benchmark community that integrates industrial symbiosis, low-carbon demonstration, and livable lifestyles. As the community’s first presentation space, the sales center must embody the vision of a “Park City Demonstration Zone” and narrate the story of rebirth and transformation in Chengdu’s northern districts.

Sources of Inspiration – Reconstructing Urban Texture
The design borrows from the “three zones, three parks” urban planning concept of Luqiaoqiao, dividing the space into a cultural heritage area, a future exhibition zone, and an ecological experience space. This structure reflects the idea of symbiotic functionality. Spatial flow lines are derived from the waterfront curves of Dongfeng Canal and the linear trajectory of the Baocheng Railway, symbolizing both urban memory and the pulse of renewal.
Industrial Heritage Regeneration
The site was formerly part of the Liangli Steel Market (Zone B). Industrial memory is preserved in the design: silver stainless-steel walls echo the austere history of the steel industry, while natural wood surfaces symbolize rebirth sprouting from industrial soil.
Park City Imagery
Hanging glass plant orbs draw inspiration from Chengdu’s vision of a “city where greenery is visible through every window.” This imagery resonates with the ecological symbols of three landmark parks—Tianfu Art Park, the Open-Air Music Park, and Phoenix Mountain Sports Park—creating an atmosphere of urban-nature symbiosis.
Design Concept – Overlapping Time and Organic Growth
Tracing the Past · Industrial Memory: Gray epoxy terrazzo floors and stainless-steel walls establish a foundation of history and resilience.
Emerging from the Cocoon · Future Vitality: Curved stainless-steel structures and suspended glass plant installations embody the energy of breakthrough and dynamic rebirth.
Growth · Ecological Fusion: Natural wood floors and walls evoke the vitality of nature extending into the gaps of the urban fabric, allowing greenery to grow within the city.
Core Highlights
At the heart of the Future Park Sales Center lies the fusion of industrial memory regeneration and future ecological symbiosis. Unlike conventional sales centers focused solely on transactional functions, this project integrates culture, ecology, and futuristic imagination into a narrative-driven journey. The result is an immersive “park-like promenade” experience. The use of innovative materials such as seamless epoxy terrazzo and curved stainless steel not only demonstrates craftsmanship but also embodies sustainable design values.
Green and Sustainable Practices
The epoxy terrazzo flooring incorporates 40% recycled aggregate; stainless-steel walls are made from recyclable steel; and all timber finishes are sourced from FSC-certified sustainable forests. Beyond materials, the design employs modular construction, energy-efficient lighting, and convertible functional spaces, ensuring long-term adaptability and enabling the sales center to later function as a cultural hub for the community.
Conclusion
The Luqiaoqiao Sales Center embodies a vessel of time, weaving together industrial heritage and ecological rebirth to narrate the transformation of northern Chengdu. More than a microcosm of the “Park City” ideal, it is a living annotation of cultural revival and urban renewal, offering both symbolic and practical meaning to the evolving community.
