Guaimbê Residence | Vivian Coser Arquitetos Associados | International Residential Architecture Awards 2025
Vivian Coser Arquitetos Associados: Winner of International Residential Architecture Awards 2025. The Guaimbês Residence project is a remarkable example of a single-family dwelling located on the captivating Meaípe Península in Espírito Santo State, Brazil. Spanning a generous 845m² plot, this work is an architectural statement centred on the philosophy that “Nature is our greatest inspiration”. This biocentric approach not only fulfilled the initial client brief but transformed it into a residential experience deeply connected to its surroundings.

The project’s grand narrative is the seamless fusion between the internal space and the natural world. This client-driven vision is realised through the use of extensive glass panels on the façade, promoting transparency and maximising natural light and views. The design connects emotionally with its users by creating an atmosphere of serenity and natural authenticity, where the lush environment becomes an integral part of the architectural composition. The project actively incorporates the landscape, as seen in the indoor garden, elevating the residence to a sanctuary that celebrates outdoor living.
Architectural and spatial richness are achieved through detailed programmatic planning across three storeys. The spatial solutions optimize the residential experience with functional areas such as a wine cellar, a gourmet area, and a dedicated yoga and gym room, in addition to well-defined suites and social spaces.
In terms of materials, the architecture implements a sophisticated aesthetic by contracting the sleekness of the glass with the warmth and texture of natural materials, timber, stones, and organic finishes. The flat, extended roofline provides clean lines and a sense of understated luxury. The inherent concept of “blurring the lines between indoor and outdoor spaces and the strong emphasis on biophilia, technology, innovation, and sustainability push the conventional boundaries of residential architecture, redefining the design for a life in symbiosis with nature.
The project addresses sustainability and the relationship with the natural world through a biophilic approach and the maximisation of natural resources. The extensive use of glass panels promotes maximum natural light, potentially reducing the need for artificial lighting. The integration of lush tropical vegetation and varied landscaping enhances the ecological efficiency and the design-s connection to the local context. The choice of natural and organic materials aligns with eco-friendly design strategies, ensuring the residence is both contemporary and timeless while respecting the environment.
The Guamibês Residence is an example of beautiful execution that represents fresh thinking and originality. The project raises the standard for single-family dwellings by demonstrating how modern, minimalist design can be warm, and deeply rooted in its location. Its legacy for residential architecture is proof that the full integration of architecture and nature is the future of luxury design focused on well-being, honouring the notable idea that nature is the greatest source of inspiration.
