BORNALETTO | Ambiance Architecture SA  | World Design Awards 2025

Ambiance Architecture SA: Winner of World Design Awards 2025. The Bornaletto project redefines high-end residential living in Switzerland. It combines discreet luxury, certified Minergie ecological performance, and an architecture that places well-being at the center of the residential experience. Composed of two buildings, Bornaletto is an audacious response to urban agitation, embodying a true “architecture of calm.”

1. Architectural Concept: The Softness of Form

The essence of Bornaletto lies in the elimination of sharp angles in favor of organic and rounded forms.

  • Fluid Lines: The façades are characterized by soft curves, pebble-shaped balconies, and rounded corners, evoking the rolling Swiss landscape. This approach creates a feeling of enclosure and protection, contrasting sharply with the rigidity of typical collective housing designs.
  • Warm Modernity: The design avoids cold minimalism. It combines polished concrete in warm hues with large glazed surfaces, softened by the integration of local wood cladding (larch) and mineral finishes. This balance lends the buildings a timeless elegance and a welcoming character.
  • Light and Materiality: Large bay windows optimize the intake of natural light. Noble materials, such as natural stone in the lobbies and high-end fixtures, guarantee a superior sensory and tactile quality in the interior spaces.

Bornaletto is a manifesto for residential architecture that prioritizes long-term quality of life. It demonstrates that luxury and ecological responsibility can coexist harmoniously within an aesthetic of softness.
