HUGE ROCK DESIGN: Winner of International Residential Architecture Awards 2025. Blackstone Island Stacked Villa is a rare standalone residence nestled at the heart of the lake, boasting unparalleled ecological resources and standing as the epitome of luxury living in Chengdu, China. Inspired by Aman-style elegance and the philosophy of secluded harmony with nature, this project creates a contemporary lakeside sanctuary that pays homage to its aquatic surroundings. With a foundation of timber and stone, complemented by open-concept layouts and artistic installations, the design cultivates an atmosphere of serene restraint—inviting residents to reconnect with authenticity and embrace the poetic warmth of lakeside living.

Crafting a villa on the rare and exclusive island at the heart of the lake—one that embodies a high-end reclusive lifestyle while seamlessly integrating with the lake’s ecosystem—the designer utilized natural materials like wood and stone to form the spatial foundation. Minimizing artificial embellishments in line with Aman’s philosophy, the design lets natural textures take center stage. Through an open layout, lakeside balconies, and an artistic dragon-scale installation, the space fosters a profound dialogue with the lake, paying homage to its beauty and allowing residents to constantly sense the water’s vitality and serenity.

Natural wood in expansive swathes contrasts with rugged stone, balancing warmth and raw texture to craft an understated yet refined elegance. Floor-to-ceiling windows draw in the shimmering lake, while suspended dragon-scale installations—inspired by rippling water—serve as striking spatial accents. The open-concept kitchen and wraparound bar, seamlessly designed, effortlessly transition between social engagement and tranquil solitude. Bedrooms, wrapped in muted wood tones and low-saturation textiles, offer instant serenity.

Open-plan design merges kitchen and living room, with a bar linking dining and Chinese kitchen for fluid circulation. Materials balance function and aesthetics: wood regulates humidity, stone adds durability. The living room converts to a home theater instantly, while the bar doubles as breakfast counter and workspace. Flexible zoning switches between social and private areas for solitude or entertaining. Private elevator and garage access ensure exclusivity and convenience.

Replacing traditional opulence with minimalist, eco-conscious design, the space embraces raw wood and natural stone for an organic aesthetic. Suspended art installations evoke the poetry of lakeside living, echoing the “Life by the Lake” concept. Merging Aman Resorts’ refined sensibility with Chinese waterfront culture, it redefines modern luxury through an Eastern Zen lens.
