Guangzhou Metro Design & Research Institute Co,Ltd. + China Railway Design Corporation: Winner of World Design Awards 2024. The Huacheng Street Station is the 7th station from south to north of the Guangzhou East Railway Station-Huadu Tiangui Intercity Railway (referred to as Guanghua Intercity), and is the final station of Guanghua Intercity. This station is an underground three-story island station, which adopts the construction of combination of open-cut and shield tunneling. The station is located north of the intersection of Fenghuang North Road and Huadu Avenue, and is laid north-south along the Fenghuang North Road. The station can be transferred to the Xintang-Baiyun Airport Intercity Line and the planned Line 35. In the planning, the surrounding area of the station is dominated by business land, commercial land and commercial service facilities. The station, which has seven entrances and exits, features a length of 734.9 meters and a standard section width of 24.5 meters.

The Guanghua Intercity Huacheng Street station is surrounded by Guangzhou’s largest ski park, high-rise office buildings and commercial centers, as well as a large number of new residential buildings. It is the leader of urban image renewal in Huadu District and an important window to demonstrate the vitality of Huadu District.

The design concept of this project can be summarized as “positive Guangzhou, thriving intercity”. Based on the elevation of the surrounding lines and the requirements of its own functions, the station is designed as a three-layer underground space, the height of which is 6.5m~7.5m, and the ground covered depth is 3.5m~4m. Considering its deep burial and high floor height, the ground space is opened, and a daylighting band with a width of about 10m and a length of about 70m is set in the green belt on the ground road, so that the spatial influence of the station can be demonstrated, and the surrounding positive urban atmosphere and natural light are introduced into the area. Inside the station, the extended middle plate and the integrated overall space bring the overall high-rise space effect, the highest height in the station reaches 24m, the urban natural light from the outside can reach the platform and vehicles directly, so that the municipal function of rail transit can be integrated with urban roads, urban buildings and urban colors, and the design concept of “positive Guangzhou, thriving Intercity” can be realized.

The interior space of Huacheng Street Station adopts bordeaux enameled steel plate, ultra-white glass curtain wall and silver-white aluminum alloy frame, and the ground adopts barry grey marble, bringing elegant and graceful overall architectural space characteristics. The side wall decoration of the public area in the station selects the curved and climbing spatial form that extends to the ceiling and skylight side walls, bringing the integrated design of the side wall and ceiling. Considering the large area of skylight, the project installs a smart electric sunshade under the skylight that can be adjusted according to seasonal changes and illumination time, the form of automatic adjustment of natural lighting can save light energy and satisfy intelligent lighting needs. The ground annex takes into account the landscape design requirements of the green belt, thus reducing the obstruction of the road view and creating a new urban central axis landscape effect. Skylight and other side walls attached to the ground use new green building external wall materials to achieve the effect of stone material, and combined with batteries, intelligent photovoltaic lighting systems can be realized to connect the power supply system in the station, thus further enhancing the green and low-carbon effect of the station space.
