Jumeirah Marsa Al Arab | Killa Design | World Design Awards 2025

Killa Design: Winner of World Design Awards 2025. Designing Jumeirah Marsa Al Arab was about completing a trilogy. Situated alongside the Jumeirah Beach Hotel and Burj Al Arab, the new resort forms the final piece in a narrative that traces the evolution of design through time. Beginning with the traditional Arabic architecture of Madinat Jumeirah, transitioning through the modern classicism of Jumeirah Al Naseem, and culminating in the futuristic, flowing forms of Marsa Al Arab, the development symbolises a dialogue between past, present, and future.

The resort’s location played a pivotal role in shaping its vision. Every aspect of the architecture responds to the setting, not only to the site itself but to the wider story of Jumeirah’s beachfront heritage. The result is a design that feels both connected and forward-looking, harmonising with its neighbours while standing proudly as a new landmark in its own right.

Within the project brief, Jumeirah sought a resort that would redefine ultra-luxury hospitality through fluid design, immersive experiences, and a seamless connection to the sea. The design achieves this through an emphasis on spatial flow, natural light, and curated sensory experiences. One of the most distinctive elements is the grand steel arch beneath the hotel, spanning 36 metres and supporting nine floors above. This dramatic feature transforms the guest arrival experience. As visitors pass under the illuminated arch, they are greeted by a breathtaking framed view of the Burj Al Arab.

Inside, the journey continues through spaces that feel like the deck of a superyacht, flowing from lobby to restaurants and terraces, each with unique atmospheres and views. The resort’s pools and landscaped terraces open up to 270-degree vistas of the ocean, immersing guests in a constant dialogue with the sea.

Engineering challenges, such as the vast arch and the cantilevered quay wall villas, pushed the boundaries of structure and creativity, but the result is seamless, elegant, and awe-inspiring. Since opening in March 2025, Jumeirah Marsa Al Arab has been met with widespread acclaim for its architectural vision, craftsmanship, and refined guest experience. More than a resort, it stands as a testament to Jumeirah’s commitment to innovation and Killa Design’s pursuit of creating timeless, meaningful architecture that defines the spirit of Dubai’s skyline.
