HHD Shenzhen East Holiday International Design Consultants Limited: Winner of World Design Awards 2025. The LAKE AND MOUNTAIN SCENERY integrates the Song Dynasty elegance with modern aesthetic design languages to transform the imagery of the Song Dynasty landscape into immersive and experiential settings, constructing a new residence model. Centered around “Landscape in Painting | Song Dynasty Elegance”, this project adopts a “Micro Intervention” strategy to reconfigure the layout and a mix-and-match approach to continue the Song Dynasty architectural elements, presenting modern aesthetics infused with Eastern sensibility.

Inspired by the sequential spatial layout of the Song Dynasty architecture, this project adopts a progressive sequence— entrance, antechamber, and main hall— to connect different functional areas, presenting a multi-layered, independent, interconnected spatial arrangement.

Continuing the Song-style asymmetrical roof, this project integrates the sleek lines typical of Song Dynasty architecture with plain roof tiles. It applies bamboo joint elements that symbolize modesty to construct a refined backdrop, with the deep green bamboo joints and the metallic tiles above forming a striking contrast, which exudes a unique Eastern ambiance. The incorporation of bamboo elements also highlights the poetic grace of ancient literati, presenting a “New Expression of Bamboo Charm” through innovative materials and techniques.

Landscape murals are introduced to the conversation area, embodying the aesthetic of “A Painting at Hand Captures the Landscape a Thousand Miles Away” and conveying the cultural depth of Song-style landscape art. Large-scale glass windows seamlessly blend the indoor space with outdoor mountains and lakes, allowing users to feel as if within the natural landscape. This project utilizes low-carbon materials such as FSC-certified wood panels and bamboo fiber composite panels, which are recyclable while ensuring aesthetic appeal and durability. Moreover, large-scale glass windows are used for maximum natural daylighting, reducing reliance on artificial lighting and reflecting our commitment to sustainability.
