Moonlit Serenity | Unique Design | World Design Awards 2025

Unique Design: Winner of World Design Awards 2025. After having lived in the UK for years, the homeowner developed a deep appreciation for British architectural designs. This is reflected in the space’s vintage British aesthetic, featuring weathered stone walls, a domed ceiling, and graceful arched details, evoking a sense of timeless elegance. Within its tranquility, a touch of raw beauty and poetic charm unfolds.

Space Reallocation

The layout emphasizes a seamless traffic flow and functional integration. Inspired by Platform 9¾ in Harry Potter, a hidden door beside the entryway leads to a secluded study room, offering the homeowner a private retreat. One bedroom was removed to expand the communal area, allowing natural light to flow more freely and making the living room feel even more open. In the three-room layout, two separate rooms were merged, creating a seamless flow among the master bedroom, walk-in closet, and balcony, thoughtfully tailored to the needs of the homeowner.

Space Introduction

At the entryway, a rugged stone wall serves as a barrier, shielding the home from the neon-lit city. As the layout unfolds, the design draws inspiration from the cobbled, crooked Diagon Alley in Harry Potter, with turns enhancing spatial depth and privacy.

In the living room, a consistent ceiling height seamlessly incorporates the beam, while a central dome pays homage to the grandeur of medieval vaulted ceilings. Instead of a traditional TV wall, a built-in audiovisual system is paired with an antique storage cabinet, maintaining a cohesive and timeless look.

Above the dining area, a low beam with intentionally preserved rough textures spans across the space, complemented by vintage-inspired pendant lights and a long dining table in a dark tone. This combination evokes the ambiance of a European castle, creating immersive and story-based dining experiences.

In the master bedroom, gradient shades of gray anchor a tranquil and restful atmosphere. The walls are adorned with irregular stones, resembling the surface of the moon, infusing the space with a natural essence.
