Peach Blossom Future Villa (Phase 1) | Bluetown Architects | International Residential Architecture Awards 2021
Bluetown Architects.: Winner of International Residential Architecture Awards 2021. Peach Blossom Future Villa (Phase 1) presents 56 single families dropping in a mountain scenic area. Two guidelines were the keys to this project: to best preserve the natural environment; and design to adapt to the steep site, with slope between 10%-60%.
The integration of ‘heaven, earth and humanity’ is the overriding philosophy of the project. Inspired by the traditional Chinese stilt house, each villa is mainly supported by 3 steel columns. This steel frame structure minimizes the break of existing topo and promotes a lightness looking. Simple material palette of steel column, glass façade, natural stone entry wall and board finish concrete, is designed to blend the villas gracefully with the site context.
To fully blend the architecture into the beautiful alpine landscape environment, the project uses large glass as enclosure, emphasizes the horizontal extension and creates an impression that glass boxes are floating among the canopy of evergreen trees. Homeowner’s privacy is addressed by using the difference of elevation and slope orientation. The atrium and patio in both floors also add variety experience. People can get a spiritual satisfaction, while the upper floors are stretching into the sky, and the ground floor has abundant natural light and lush foliage that penetrate into the house.
Each villa has its own private views and experience to adapt with the complex ‘three-hills-and-two-valleys’ terrain. After the construction of the building part, more native planting is amended to the site to mitigate the environmental impact. Entry gateway is low-pitched, surface parking is minimized. All the above delivers a design of fulfilled natural belongings, creates a peaceful place off the beaten path, and tells a real story of ‘Peach Blossom Valley’.
