Royal One | Kris Lin International Design | World Design Awards 2025
Kris Lin International Design: Winner of World Design Awards 2025. A.Purpose: This project is designed as a private mansion for an owner who has a passion for collecting fine wines and artworks, and often invites friends and family to share good food and wine. The design goal is to create a home that also embodies the atmosphere of an art gallery.

B.Features:
The building covers four floors above ground and one basement level, including spaces such as a wine cellar, dining room, basement barbecue room, billiard room, home theater, bedrooms, and walk-in closets.
2.INSPIRATION:
Concept:
A.Inclusivity and Harmony of the Circle:
The circle, symbolizing completeness and harmony, reflects the Chinese philosophical concept of “unity of heaven and humanity.” It’s a totem revered in Chinese culture for its emphasis on harmony. Circular design explores the connection between space and emotional needs.
B.Integration of Natural Elements:
Inspired by the beauty of nature, water droplet art installations symbolize the flow of life, bringing vitality to the space.
3.MATERIALS:
Overlapping Circles:
In the dining area, aluminum panels are used to create an effect of overlapping circles of various sizes, enhancing the spatial visual experience.
Durable Materials:
Sustainable and high-quality building materials, such as natural stone and custom woodworking, have been carefully selected to ensure the durability and aesthetic appeal of the space.
4.TECHNICAL PROPERTIES
Water Droplet Art Installation:
The installation, approximately 2500 millimeters in height, is suspended above the center of the circular hall at a height of 5000 millimeters. It’s crafted from highly reflective materials with built-in LED lighting, creating dynamic effects through light refraction.
5.INTERACTION:
Imagine stepping into a spacious area, at the center of which lies a large circular hall, akin to a warm embrace, ingeniously connecting various spaces such as the living room and wine cellar. This design facilitates smooth movement and natural exploration.
Suspended at the center of the circular hall is an art piece resembling a water droplet, which displays different scenic beauties as the light changes, enchanting like light passing through a droplet. This not only enhances the aesthetic but also energizes the space.
Here, you can enjoy tasting fine wines with family and friends, or gather around for a barbecue and chat. This space is designed to accommodate both private relaxation and social enjoyment, allowing everyone to engage and communicate in their preferred ways.
6.RESEARCH ABSTRACT:
The goal is to create a high-end mansion that is both private and conducive to social interaction, providing a place for the homeowner to relax both mentally and physically. Functional spaces such as the dining room, wine cellar, and teppanyaki restaurant enhance social interactions, while the home theater and bedrooms cater to privacy needs. The layout and elements are meticulously designed to create an environment that is both comfortable and encourages interaction.
7.THE CREATIVE / RESEARCH CHALLENGE:
The biggest challenge is balancing the owner’s wine collection hobby with the need for a space that offers both privacy and social interaction.
Considering the owner’s fondness for fine wines and gourmet food, flexible spatial planning (such as streamlined spaces centered around a circular hall) and multifunctional design elements (like a wine cellar open for tours, an underground barbecue room, and an audio-visual room) are employed to create a high-end social venue that meets the demands of modern individuals.
