SFEEL Design Hotel Tangshan | HARMO Design | World Design Awards 2025

HARMO Design: Winner of World Design Awards 2025. Set within the bustle of the city yet embraced by lush greenery, this 2,000-square-meter boutique hotel reimagines Eastern aesthetics through a modern perspective, shaping a serene urban hideaway with 40 guest rooms and immersive communal spaces. Rooted in the concept of “modern form, Eastern charm,” the design weaves natural elements, layered spatial journeys, and cultural nuances into a tranquil retreat for both city residents and travelers.

Public areas unfold as a curated landscape experience. Cascading tropical foliage, moss-covered carpets, and suspended gardens dissolve the line between architecture and nature. Elevated walkways, sunken lounges, water features, and diffused lighting guide guests through ever-changing scenes of light, shadow, and greenery—an evocative reinterpretation of traditional Chinese garden design in a contemporary language.

In the guest rooms, calm minimalism prevails. Clean architectural lines and a restrained material palette of wood, textured stone, and soft linen establish a sense of warmth and quietude. Ink-wash-inspired artworks, bespoke screens, and handcrafted ceramic lighting introduce refined Oriental touches, while expansive windows open to verdant courtyards or vertical gardens, bringing nature into every private space.

The hotel’s social heart is sculpted through tiered platforms and semi-transparent partitions, creating a delicate balance between openness and intimacy. Tea rooms, reading lounges, and secluded meditation alcoves are discreetly tucked within greenery, echoing the Eastern principle of “a winding path leading to a hidden sanctuary.” Natural ventilation, filtered daylight, and gentle acoustic treatments enhance the sensory experience throughout.

This boutique hotel is conceived as more than a place to stay—it is a contemporary sanctuary where modern architectural precision and traditional cultural spirit coexist. Through a thoughtful orchestration of spatial rhythm, organic textures, and poetic details, it invites guests to slow down, immerse themselves in nature, and rediscover the harmony between design, culture, and life.
