SHANGHAI ZF ARCHITECTS: Winner of World Design Awards 2024. The Langshi Huayu Project, a high – end residential development jointly undertaken by Vanke and CRCC (China Railway Construction Corporation), is nestled between the Chun Shen Tang and Xi Ma Tun Jing water systems. This project marries the quintessence of Vanke’s “Shi” series and CRCC’s “Huayu” series. With “exquisite, elegant, luxurious, tranquil, and relaxing” at the heart of its design, it endeavors to offer residents an elegant, luxurious living experience reminiscent of a relaxing holiday.

In terms of overall planning, the Langshi Huayu adheres to the design concept of “integration of the four elements towards the river”. The Xi Ma Tun Jing river channel and Xianding Road partition the community into four large plots. A 300 – meter – long natural watercourse runs through it, forming a north – south ecological axis that endows each area with unique shared resources, making the entire community resemble an ecological island on the water. Around 3,500 square meters of living facilities, distributed along Xianding Road and the water system, have created a convenient 5 – minute living circle, realizing the overall layout of “intersection of two axes and unity of the four elements”, and thus forging a harmonious and unified urban community.

The architectural design of the community is rich and diverse. The slab – type large – and medium – high – rise buildings and the point – type medium – high – rise buildings are arranged in an orderly and well – spaced manner. The design ingeniously combines the scale of streets and alleys, integrating the landscape with the architecture to create multi – level social spaces under the forest canopy. The waterfront landscape, a key focus of the design, uses nature as its language to foster a relaxed and peaceful ambience, providing a refined and comfortable living environment.

The stilt floor of the community has been meticulously crafted into a “home away from home”. Serving as a link between public life and private space, it accommodates various scenarios such as parent – child activities, social gatherings, and entertainment. Based on Vanke’s “large – scale platform” concept, this shared space, through the community lounge, stilt floor, and landscape modules, imbues the community with a warm and humanistic atmosphere, facilitating more amicable and comfortable neighborly interactions. There are quiet areas suitable for study and work, as well as spaces for parent – child interaction and children’s play. Here, people and the landscape blend seamlessly, giving rise to rich neighborhood spaces.

The facade design emphasizes vertical lines and a sense of mass. From a distance, it presents a clear – cut hierarchy and an imposing stance. Up close, it reveals rich details and a warm texture of materials. The building features “lighthouse” installations that illuminate the path home. The design below the 5 – meter elevation line is refined and elaborate, with a white – gold color scheme highlighting its high – end quality. The lobby facade is crafted with fine workmanship, enhancing the sense of homecoming ritual. In terms of details, from light fixtures, door handles to the junctions of air vents and curtain walls, every element has been carefully refined, underlining the high – end positioning of the project.
