Shanghai Zhongfang Architectural Design Co., Ltd.: Winner of World Design Awards 2025. 1. Design Vision Huiyue Mansion reinterprets the concept of urban dwelling in the context of Shanghai’s Kangjian Community, seeking balance between architectural structure and human life.
The project integrates six residential buildings and one community-supporting public facility into a cohesive urban composition, transforming a conventional residential complex into a living urban organism — one that merges functionality, aesthetic clarity, and community engagement.

2. Urban Interface & Spatial Strategy

Positioned along Liuzhou Road, the project establishes a strong urban frontage while maintaining permeability toward the residential core.
The public facility building on the north edge acts as both a visual landmark and a social condenser, mediating between the street and the community.
Its transparent glass volume and steel truss structure create a light yet powerful architectural statement — a gesture of openness and connectivity.

• Structure as Space:
  The 30-meter column-free span, achieved through three single-layer pitched trusses and one double-layer X-shaped truss, allows a fully open ground level that functions as an all-weather public living room.
  This space blurs the boundaries between architecture, structure, and community, transforming structural logic into social vitality.

3. Community & Experience

The ground floor open hall serves as a multi-functional communal platform — hosting leisure, fitness, and social interactions under a single roof.
The architectural transparency allows natural light and community life to interweave, creating a vibrant spatial continuum.
Through this gesture, architecture becomes not only a container for life but also a catalyst of neighborhood connection.

4. Residential Architecture

In contrast to the expressive northern edge, the residential buildings adopt a restrained modernist vocabulary.
Simplified massing and balanced proportions form a calm architectural rhythm, expressing the project’s commitment to clarity, quality, and precision.
The façades combine stone, glass, and champagne-gold aluminum frames, creating a subtle interplay of solidity and lightness — a contemporary interpretation of urban elegance.

The 220m² signature residence embodies the project’s spatial philosophy:

• Dual Foyer Design: An “outer foyer” merges with the elevator lobby to form a semi-private threshold, transitioning into the “inner foyer” that defines the home’s private domain.
• BLDK Fluid Space: Continuous living–dining–kitchen–corner lounge sequence enhances openness and social interaction.
• Circulatory Master Suite: The suite adopts a hotel-inspired loop layout, balancing privacy and comfort.
• Arrival Experience: The underground lobby ceiling simulates a “starry sky” with LED illumination — turning everyday return into a ritual of emotion and identity.

5. Structural & Technical Excellence

The structural design exemplifies precision and innovation:

• Integration of architectural and structural systems ensures spatial continuity and visual coherence.
• Parametric optimization of truss members enhances both safety and material efficiency.

6. Landscape & Environmental Integration

The project’s landscape design draws inspiration from classical Chinese garden composition, employing layered courtyards, framed views, and transitional corridors to shape fluid spatial sequences.
The continuous community interface and poetic entry promenade reinforce the sense of arrival and belonging.
Exterior and interior spaces intertwine through light, greenery, and reflection — realizing a living environment that breathes.

7. Architectural Identity

The facade detailing — “Golden Edge Aesthetic (金辉细缘)” — defines the visual character of the community.
The interplay of champagne-gold aluminum frames and transparent glass panels creates a refined tension between precision and softness.
This restrained luxury reflects modern Shanghai’s urban temperament — confident, elegant, and understated.

8. Design Statement

Huiyue Mansion embodies a dialogue between structure, community, and emotion.
It transcends the traditional typology of residential compounds, establishing a new paradigm of shared urban living.
