China Southwest Architectural Design & Research Institute Co., Ltd.: Winner of International Residential Architecture Awards 2025. The surrounding area of the site encompasses existing residential communities, ground-floor retail and dining establishments, as well as office spaces, providing comprehensive living amenities. The urban fabric is predominantly characterized by row-type residential buildings, featuring a Chinese architectural style with white walls and black-tiled roofs. The newly developed residential community should harmonize with the existing old urban context, reflecting the site’s distinctive urban heritage and modern residential design philosophy.

Dialogue with Nature

The site is bordered by the Baitiao River to the south, one of the main canals of the Dujiangyan Inner River system originating from the Minjiang River. With abundant water flow and lush vegetation along both riverbanks, it serves as the primary external landscape resource for the site, embodying the characteristics of premium residential land according to Feng Shui principles. The surrounding buildings are limited to seven stories or below, while the southwest offers distant views of Mount Qingcheng. The design should capitalize on the site’s landscape advantages of mountain views and riverside ambiance, creating a dialogue with nature.

Low-Density Premium Community

The enhancement of living quality lies not merely in expanding living space, but in creating comprehensive living scenarios that meet contemporary needs. Drawing inspiration from Dujiangyan’s regional characteristics of “mountains, water, and Tao,” we envision a concept of “Western Sichuan Landscape Aesthetic Living,” aiming to create a compact yet refined, high-quality waterfront residential community that integrates with nature and the urban fabric while embodying the distinctive regional character of Western Sichuan.
