Idyllic Manor | Chain10 Architecture & Interior Design Institute | International Residential Architecture Awards 2022

Chain10 Architecture & Interior Design Institute: Winner of International Residential Architecture Awards 2022. The client runs a gravel company in Pingtung. They desired nature and surrounded the building with it because there will be sand and gravel cars passing by so the periphery of the plant has been paved. This also reduces environmental air pollution. Our aim was to create a space full of light, and simultaneously full of subtle connections between the individual fragments of the interior.

The outside area can be seen from the building. We aim to make objects adapt to local conditions and lightly intervene in nature and use greenery to frame around the building so that it can be integrated and wrapped by nature.

We magnify the proportion of the floor-to-ceiling window connecting the interior environment and nature.

The different levels each with a different size and height for different functions are separated from the floor and simply places on the frame to create an impression of lightweight while the air can pass under the stairs. This design not only increases the flow rate of pedestrians but also effectively avoids the high indoor temperature in summer and saves energy.

Poor air quality is a common problem in many urban areas. Trees can improve air quality through a number of means, including by reducing air temperature thus altering pollution concentrations directly removing pollutants from the air. Trees can remove particulate matter by “intercepting” them temporarily. Most PM2.5 will only remain on surfaces. With rain or precipitation, the particulates can be dissolved in the stormwater runoff or transferred to the soil.

The structure is created to be an ecological building, with renewable materials. Of all the materials and construction systems, we choose sustainable options. Such as the insulation, exterior cladding. The client intentionally asked for an environmentally friendly building. So the office and interior etc. was furnished with recovered materials. This project demonstrates that building ecologically and small-scale can go hand in hand with comfort and smart use of space.

The architecture should have a direct relationship with nature. Also gives shade and greenery to the house. A natural beauty that surprises every day is created with nature by incorporating natural elements such as light and weather as time changes.

They are protected from direct sunlight, draws from the ample natural indirect light and allows the building to primarily use daylighting during the daytime, reducing its consumption of energy for lighting.

Space is an important link between people and the environment. A good environment should be designed from the perspective of functionalism, with an aid of sustainability technique to solve problems. The purpose of design is to tackle with the difficulties in our daily life, to figure out any possible solutions to the problems. It is our hope to create buildings that will bring life closer to nature and allow users feel the beauty of nature. We hope to raise the awareness of sustainability and pass the importance of environmental protection from generations to generations.
